Getting Started with PAT250: Connecting to CertSuite [08-0301]

Start by turning the PAT250 Tester on ...

  • Press the spanner button to enter set-up mode.
  • Note that on the tester's display the symbol ‘bt’ (meaning Bluetooth) is set to ‘OFF’.
  • Note too that the last 4 digits of the instrument’s serial number are displayed: these will soon be needed to verify the connection to CertSuite.
  • Press the spanner button again to turn the Bluetooth on.
  • The four dashes on the tester's display flash: this means that the PAT250 is searching for CertSuite.
  • Open a PAT job in CertSuite and tap the red PAT250 button to connect via Bluetooth.

CertSuite now scans for PAT250 Testers.

  • The CertSuite UI displays the serial numbers of any PAT250 instruments that CertSuite can see.
  • Identify your tester by pairing the last 4 digits, and then tap the serial number in question to connect.
  • The PAT250 serial number and CertSuite's own 4-digit ID will now display on both the PAT250 and the CertSuite UI.
  • You are asked to confirm that the numbers are the same before accepting the Bluethooth connection.
  • After checking that the numbers are the same accept the connection – by pressing the spanner button on the PAT250.

With the Bluetooth set-up now complete, press the red power button on the PAT250 to exit set-up mode.

  • The ‘PAT Tester’ icon on the CertSuite display will turn green, indicating a successful connection.
  • Once the visual checks have passed you can start testing an appliance.

Remember these three useful tips …

  1. If the PAT250 is turned off, or if it moves out of Bluetooth range, CertSuite loses the connection: the ‘PAT 250’ icon in CertSuite turns red.
  2. If the PAT250 is turned back on, or returns within Bluetooth range, CertSuite automatically reconnects: the ‘PAT250’ icon turns green again.
  3. To connect to CertSuite on a different mobile device turn the PAT250 Bluetooth OFF, and then back ON again, using the spanner button. This way the Tester forgets the original mobile device, and looks for the new one – with a new 4-digit Instrument ID.
