PAT: filling in the Test Results [08-0104]

Filling in the Test Results with PAT is straightforward. You start by tapping the white ‘+’ Test button at the bottom of the screen. So let's get started with your first PAT report ... looking at each of the boxes in turn:

Asset ID

Start by giving your first Asset its unique ID – which can be any combination of numbers and/or characters.

Asset Type

Next select the appropriate Asset Type from the drop-down list: this will determine which tests need to be recorded. There are seven options:

  1. Class 1
  2. Class 2
  3. Class 2 FE
  4. Class 3
  5. Lead
  6. RCD
  7. RCD-Lead

Once the Asset Type has been set, the relevant test sections automatically display beneath, and the appropriate icon displays in the header bar.

Asset Description

  • This is optional: choose from the drop down menu, or use the ‘+’ buttonto add a new description

Site and Location

  • These are also optional: data entered here is stored in a drop-down list ready for use another time.
  • A Site can have one Location, many Locations, or none.

Asset Notes

This section is for the Test Engineer’s reference: the notes do not appear in the report.

Visual Check and Electrical Test Results

  • Tap the Pass All button to set all of the values for the Visual Check to Pass.
  • Tap the Pass All button to set all of the relevant Electrical Test Results to Pass, or else enter values individually in the test boxes.
  • Acceptable values return a pass, and disallowed values a fail.

CertSuite verifies that:

  1. Bond, Leakage and Continuity values are < than their limit
  2. Insulation is > than its limit
  3. Polarity is a ‘Pass’
  4. RCD disconnection times are not exceeded.

If necessary the limits for Bond and Continuity can be adjusted using the Cable Calculator.

Re-test Section

  • The Re-test section allows suggested Re-test dates for both the Visual and Electrical tests to be scheduled, at intervals between 1 week and 60 months.
  • Suggesting Re-test dates is optional, and this section can be shown, or hidden, depending on whether the ‘Hide’ or ‘Show’ button is tapped.
  • Any Re-test dates appear in the Test Summary Report.
  • When the section is shown a calendar icon appears in the header bar.

PAT Tester

  • Identify the test instrument used for the test from the drop-down list.
  • If the instrument is not shown tap the ‘Add Test Instrument’ button to add it.
  • Different Test Instruments can be selected for different assets: whichever is the last to be selected becomes the default from that point forward.

The Header Bar

  • An icon in the header bar indicates the Asset Type, i.e. Class 1, Class 2, etc.
  • If any of the Visual Checks or Test Results fail, the relevant icons in the header bar change from a green tick to a red cross.
  • The header bar also indicates whether a Re-Test has been scheduled.
